26. Phanocloidea View in CoL (?) dubia ( Gray, 1835: 34) [ Diapherodes ]. HT, ♀: Cayenne [LSUK—lost].
Remarks: This species has provisionally been placed in Phanocloidea by Hennemann, Conle & Perez-Gelabert (2016: 173) because it was recorded from “Cayenne” ( French Guiana) and thus unlikely to belong in the original genus Diapherodes Gray, 1835 ( Haplopodinae : Haplopodini), which is an endemic of the West Indies. Unfortunately, the original description is very brief and does not allow any confirmed generic affiliation “ Foemina, cylindrica, nigrescens, pulvere albo superinduta; pro mesothoraque spinis minoribus ” ( Gray, 1835: 34) and does not even include a citation of the body length. The type-specimen was not traced in LSUK and must be presumed lost. The spinose thorax would link it with P. muricata ( Burmeister, 1838) , a species commonly found throughout French Guiana, but this species lacks the spines on the pronotum mentioned by Gray. Thus, the generic position of this species still remains questionable.
Distribution: French Guiana, Cayenne [LSUK—lost].
