2. Globocrania emesa ( Westwood, 1859: 30, pl. 5: 3, 3a (♂ )) [ Bacteria ]. HT, ♂: 40, 4–2, 1335; Holotype; Bacteria emesa Westw. —?; emesa Westw. ; BMNH(E) #845236 [NHMUK]. comb. n. ( Figs. 24B View FIGURE 24 , 25 View FIGURE 25 B-F, 26C–G, 86B, 90F, 95N)

= Bostra imperialis Redtenbacher, 1908: 408 View in CoL . HT, ♀: 751; Brasil.? Coll. V. Charp.; Bostra imperialis Br. Brunner View in CoL det. [MNHU]. syn. n.

= Pseudobacteria longipes Piza, 1938: 42 View in CoL , fig. 1 (♂). HT, ♂: Rio de Janeiro; No. 16.047 [ESALQ]. syn. n.

Remarks: B. imperialis was erroneously placed in the genus Otocrania Redtenbacher, 1908 by Zompro (2005: 267), although clearly differing from this genus by the lack of a prominent posterior spine on the metanotum, the spinulose meso- and metapleurae, slender subgenital plate, short gonapophyses and slender, almost entirely unarmed legs. Examination of two ♂♂ of G. emesa ( Westwood, 1859) in MNHU and careful comparison with the holotype of Bostra imperialis Redtenbacher, 1908 in the same collection ( Fig. 24B View FIGURE 24 ) leave no doubt the latter is the opposite sex and hence a synonym of Westwood’s species (syn. n.). These two ♂♂ match very well with the HT of emesa in NHMUK, but have the dark posteromedian marking on the vertex less decided and are of a more dull, slightly brownish general colour. Pseudobacteria longipes Piza, 1938 was erroneously placed in the not closely related Central American genus Paracalynda Zompro, 2001 by Zompro & Domenico (2005: 258). Examination of the holotype in ESALQ ( Fig. 25C View FIGURE 25 ) has proven it to be a synonym of Westwood’s emesa (syn. n.). For measurements see table 9 below.

Distribution: Brazil [NHMUK, MNHU]; E-Brazil, Rio de Janeiro [ESALQ]; no data [UFVB].
