Keys to the species of Jeremia View in CoL

♀♀

1. Large and stocky insects (body length incl. subgenital plate> 135.0 mm); crest-like protrusion of abdominal tergum VI prominent; subgenital plate short and at best 1.5x length of terga VIII-X combined; Bolivia, Peru & Ecuador............. 2

- Small and slender species (body length incl. subgenital plate <130.0 mm); crest like protrusion of abdominal tergum VI indistinct; subgenital plate long and strongly projecting beyond apex of abdomen, 2.4x longer than terga VIII-X combines; NE-Brazil (Roraima)............................................................................ megaplax View in CoL

2. Small species (body length incl. subgenital plate 136.5–146 mm); mesonotum spinose ( Fig. 31B View FIGURE 31 ); anteroventral carina of meso- and metafemora smooth; basitarsi lobed dorsally................................................... grossedentata View in CoL

- Large species (body length incl. subgenital plate 145.0–168.0 mm); mesonotum unarmed ( Fig. 120D View FIGURE 120 ); anteroventral carina of meso- and metafemora dentate; basitarsi slender....................................................... gymnota View in CoL

♂♂

1. Body length <100.0 mm; alae reaching half way along abdominal tergum VI ( Fig. 31A View FIGURE 31 ); metatibiae with a rounded dorso- apical lobe; basitarsi lobed dorsally............................................................. grossedentata View in CoL

- Body length <100.0 mm; alae reaching half way along abdominal tergum V; metatibiae smooth dorsally; basitarsi slender............................................................................................... .. gymnota View in CoL

Differentiation. Very close to Aplopocranidium Zompro, 2004 View in CoL and with quite some certainty the sister-taxon. Common features are the (mostly) unarmed legs and ovate, unarmed head of both sexes, smooth abdomen and lanceolate, apically pointed subgenital plate of ♀♀ as well as the strongly enlarged and specialised cerci and bidentate posterior margin of the poculum of ♂♂. Jeremiodes View in CoL however differs from Aplopocranidium View in CoL by the lack of prominent spines on the mesonotum, at best sparsely granulose meso- and metasternum ( Figs. 84E–G View FIGURE 84 ) and at best weakly keeled abdominal sterna of both sexes, unarmed meso- and metapleurae of ♀♀, as well as the longitudinally keeled mesosternum (simple in Aplopocranidium View in CoL ) and conspicuously hook-like cerci of ♂♂ (laterally compressed and incurved in Aplopocranidium View in CoL ).

Comments. The detailed original diagnosis of the genus presented by Hennemann & Conle (2007a: 2) is sufficient and hence not repeated here. Eggs unknown. Body length: ♂♂ 56.5-79.4 mm, ♀♀ incl. subgenital plate 96.0- 147.7 mm

Distribution ( Fig. 102F View FIGURE 102 ). So far recorded from southern Costa Rica (Osa Peninsula) and Panama, French Guiana and the tropical lowland regions of Colombia, eastern Peru and Bolivia, east of the Andes. Most certainly however this genus is distributed throughout the complete Amazon basin.
