Paratypes. 2 m, withthesamedataastheholotype; slideNosRL 7921m, RL 7942m (coll. HNHM).

Taxonomy. Theclosestrelativeofthenewspeciesis N. glauculalis ( Hampson, 1893) , thedetailedcomparisonisgivenintheDiagnosis. Thestructureof antennaeof N. mirabilis issimilartothatofcertaintaxaoccurringinthePhilippines, whiletheshapeandpatternofthewingsarerathersimilartothoseof N. blepharota ( Strand, 1920) .

Description. Wingspan 20 mm, lengthofforewing 10 mm. Antennaefiliform, with finecrest- likeventralthickeningsofeachjointprojectedslightlytowardstipofantenna, baseoftheseplateswithtwosetaeoneachsegmentbeingtwicelongerthandiameterof flagellum; ciliaemergefromtheventraledgeofplatesbeing 1.5 timesdiameterofflagellum. Lengthoflabialpalpsnearlythreetimesdiameterofeyes; thirdsegmentshort, its tiplight; secondsegmentquitebroad, dorsalscalesrelativelyshort, basalthirdwithout dorsalscales. Scale-hoodofvertexlong, triangular, broad-based, itstippointed. Protibiae withdensehairs. Characteristicwingpatternfeatures: forewingbroadwithcostanotconcave; groundcolourofforewingbrown; subterminallinecreamywhite, stronglysinuous; postmediallinestronglymarked, verydarkbrown, slightlysinuous; fieldbetweenthetwo transverselineswithdarkerareaclosetodorsum; antemediallinepresent; reniformstigma brightyellow, withoutdarkermarkingsinside, oval- shaped, relativelysmallandcloseto costa; orbicularstigmahardlyvisible. Hindwingslightlypalerthanforewing, transverse linesvisiblenearinneredgeonly; discalspotclearlyvisible, long, narrowandcurved.

Malegenitalia ( Fig. 3 View Figs 1–6 ). Uncuslong, banana- shaped, itstiphooked. Scaphiumaslong asuncus, curvedagainstit. Tegumenaslongasvinculum. Juxtadeltoid-shaped, nearlyas wideaslong. Diagnosis. Theexternalfeaturesandthegenitaliaof N. mirabilis aresimilartothoseof N. glauculalis . However, adarkareaispresentin N. mirabilis closetothesubterminalline, whichisabsentin N. glauculalis . Inthemale genitaliaofthenewspeciesthejuxtaismoreangular, thevalvaisbroader, andtheharpeismuchbigger, mushroom-shaped, beingverydifferentfrom thatof N. glauculalis ; inaddition, theaedeagusof N. mirabilis islesscurved.

Thegenitalstructuresof N. mirabilis and N. vicina arestrikinglydifferentforthefirstsight ( Figs 3 & 4 View Figs 1–6 ) butthehomologouspartsarerecognisable, displayingacloserrelationshipbetweenthetwonewspecies.
