Aulonastus pteroptochos View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 4–5 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 )
Description. FEMALE, holotype. Total body length 385 (385–430 in 6 paratypes). Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum sparsely punctate. Stylophore 120 (115–125) long, basal part of its dorsum with longitudinal striae. Each medial branch of peritremes with 1 chambers, each lateral branch with 6 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield with concave anterior margin, punctate, bearing bases of setae ve, si and c1. Length ratio of setae ve: si: se 1:1:6–6.2.
Hysteronotal shield well developed, fused to pygidial shield, punctate in posterior part. Setae f2 2.7–3 times longer than f1 and h1. Setae ag1 and ag3 subequal in length, both pairs about twice as long as setae ag2. Coxal fields I–II weakly sclerotised and striated, III–IV well sclerotised; all coxal field sparsely punctate. Setae 3c 1.5–1.6 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of tarsi III–IV with 6–7 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.8 times longer than tc’ III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve 20 (20), si 20 (20–25), se 120 (120–125), c1 155 (155–165), c2 120 (110–120), d1 15 (15), d2 120 (120–130), e2 25 (25), f1 20 (20), f2 60 (55–60), h1 20 (15–20), h2 200 (200–205), ag1 70 (70–75), ag2 35 (30–40), ag3 (70–85), tc’III– IV 20 (25), tc” III–IV 35 (35), 3b 15 (15–20), 3c 25 (25–30).
MALE. Unknown.
Type material. Female holotype, 6 female and 1 male paratypes from the Black-throated Huet-huet Pteroptochos tarnii (King) ( Passeriformes : Rhinocryptidae ); CHILE: Valdivia, 3949'S 7314'W, 28 November 1924, coll. Ohde.
Type material deposition. All type material is deposited in the AMU, except 1 female paratype in the ZSM.
Differential diagnosis. Aulonastus pteroptochos sp. nov. is morphologically close to to A. euphagus Skoracki, Hendricks and Spicer, 2010 described from Euphagus cyanocephalus (Wagler) ( Passeriformes : Icteridae ) in the United States ( Skoracki et al. 2010). In females of both species, the stylophore is striated; each medial branch of the peritremes has one chamber; the propodonotal shield is punctate; the hysteronotal shield is well developed and fused to the pygidial shield; setae h2 are distinctly longer than f2, and setae c1 are slightly longer than se. The new species differs from A. euphagus by the following features: in females of A. pteroptochos , the infracapitulum is sparsely punctate; each lateral branch of the peritremes has six chambers; the hysteronotal shield is punctate in the posterior part; the length ratio of setae ag1: ag2 is 2:1, and length of setae se is 120–125. In females of A. euphagus , the infracapitulum is apunctate; each lateral branch of the peritremes has 4–5 chambers; the hysteronotal shield is apunctate in the posterior part; the length ratio of setae ag1: ag2 is 1.2–1.4:1, and length of setae se is 140–145.
Etymology. The species name is derived from the generic name of the host and is a noun in apposition.
