Diagnosis. Females of C. harreri can be recognized among the Tibetan Colletes through the following set of features: clypeus longer than broad, paraocular area with pale-yellow and black hairs intermixed and hind basitarsus with pale setae. Males are diagnosable through the combination of malar area 1.5× as long as basal width of mandible, mesoscutal black hairs present and S7 apicolateral lobe subrectangular. Colletes harreri is most similar to C. harrerioides , but the females of the former are distinct in having the malar area 1.25× as long as basal width of mandible (malar area only 0.75× as long as basal width of mandible in females of the latter) and the T2 with basal band (T2 without basal band in females of the latter). Males of the two species are different in that the hind basitarsus is 4.75× as long as broad in C. harreri (hind basitarsus 4.25× as long as broad in C. harrerioides ) and the S7 has subparallel lateral margins in the former (S7 with lateral margins diverging anteriorly and converging posteriorly in the latter).

Distribution. Western China (Xizang).

Floral hosts. Leguminosae: Trifolium repens L.; Tamaricaceae : Tamarix chinensis Lour.

Remarks. Variation in body size of C. harreri is enormous, ranging between 8.0– 11.5 mm in females and 7.0–10.0 mm in males.
