Description. Measurements (in mm) and ratios: BL: 11.18–11.31; FL: 5.56–5.72; HL: 0.76–0.80; HW: 0.83– 0.91; AnL: 3.06–3.39; PL: 0.92–0.94; PW: 0.83–0.87; EL: 0.80–0.89; EW: 0.83–0.96; AW: 1.04–1.10; AL: 0.96– 1.06; HL/HW: 0.88–0.92; HW/PW: 1.00–1.05; HL/PL: 0.82–0.85; PL/PW: 1.08–1.12; EL/PL: 0.87–0.95; diameter of eye: 0.21–0.23.

Habitus as in Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 . Coloration: head and labrum black, labial palpi and antennae brown; pronotum brownish red; elytra metallic-blue; legs brown, with apical halves of the femora blackish; abdomen bicoloured with segments III-VI brownish red and segments VII-X black.

Head wider than long, widest across eyes; punctation coarse and sparse; interstices glossy. Eyes distinctly convex. Antenna as in Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 .

Pronotum nearly oviform, strongly convex in cross-section; punctures sparser and somewhat shallower than those of head.

Elytra nearly trapeziform; punctation coarse, defined and dense. Hind wings reduced. Metatarsomere I as long as combined length of metatarsomeres II and III.

Abdomen distinctly broader than elytra; punctation moderately coarse; interstices with shallow microsculpture; posterior margin of tergite VII without palisade fringe.

Male. Anterior margin of labrum ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) in middle with shallow excision. left mandible ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) without dorsal tooth, inner margin with one small tooth; right mandible ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) with one indistinct dorsal tooth, inner margin with single-pointed tooth. Posterior margin of tergite VIII ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ) strongly convex; sternite V ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ) with shallow median impression posteriorly, this impression with weakly modified and dark setae; sternite VI ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ) with distinct median impression posteriorly, this impression with weakly modified and dark setae; sternite VII ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ) strongly transverse, with distinct median impression posteriorly, this impression with numerous modified, short black setae, posterior excision rather shallow; sternite VIII ( Fig. 3E View FIGURE 3 ) transverse and with deep posterior incision, this incision 0.5 times as long as sternite VIII; aedeagus as in Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 F–H; dorsal plate apically acute; parameres apically very weakly curved; internal sac with single long sclerotized spine.

Female. Labrum as in Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 . Posterior margin of tergite VIII ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ) convex; sternite VIII ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ) poste- riorly with median process.

Comparative notes. This new species is distinguished from other species of this subgenus by an indistinct dorsal tooth on the right mandible, the chaetotaxy of the male sternites V–VII and the structure of the aedeagus (shape of parameres; single long sclerotized spine in the internal sac).

Distribution and natural history. The type locality is in Zhangmu to the south of Nielamu, southern Xizang. Some specimens were sifted from leaf litter from the floor of a mixed forest at an altitude of 2600 m.

Etymology. The species is named after its type locality (Zhangmu).
