Pseudokuzicus (Pseudokuzicus) dentatus sp. nov., Chinese name 多ŽḢ*ª

( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ; Map 1 View MAP 1 )

Description.

Male. Body small, relatively stout.

Head. Fastigium verticis conical, apex rounded, with a thin longitudinal furrow on the dorsum. Eyes nearly globular, projecting forwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpi slightly longer than subapical one, apex slightly swollen.

Thorax. Pronotum relatively short, anterior margin slightly protruding; posterior margin rounded, metazona slightly raised, lateral lobe longer than high, posterior area narrowing, without humeral sinus. Thoracic auditory spiracle open, oral. Legs. All femora unarmed on ventral surfaces, genicular lobes with apices obtuse. Fore coxa with 1 spine; fore tibia with 4 outer and 4 inner spines on ventral surface, tympana open on both sides, oral. Middle tibia with 4 outer and 4 inner spines on ventral surface. Hind tibia with 20 – 24 spines on both margins of dorsal surface, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 1 pairs of ventral apical spurs. Wings. Tegmen with apex slightly surpassing apex of hind femur, anterior and posterior margins nearly parallel, apex rounded; hind wing slightly longer than tegmen. Abdomen. Tenth abdominal tergite broad and short, the middle of posterior margin with a pair of processes, long and curved outwards; basal area of the process narrow, middle area slightly extended, apex rounded ( Fig. 2D–E View FIGURE 2 ). Cercus slender and cylindrical, moderately incurved, basal area slightly stout, apex separated into dorsal and ventral branches, ventral branch slightly longer than dorsal branch ( Fig. 2D–F View FIGURE 2 ). Genitalia sclerotized, with a pair of symmetric broader lamellar structures, its inner surface lightly concave; outer surface slightly convex, covered with transverse wrinkles, inner edge on dorsal surface with a list of thin teeth ( Fig. 2F–G View FIGURE 2 ). Subgenital plate nearly rectangular, the middle of posterior margin slightly prominent; styli small, conical, apices rounded, inserted on lateral apices of posterior margin of subgenital plate ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ).

Female. Appearance is similar to that of male. Cercus short, conical, apex acute. Ovipositor stout, moderately upcurved, dorsal and ventral margins smooth, dorsal valvulae with acute apices, ventral valvulae with hook-shaped apices ( Fig. 2I View FIGURE 2 ). Subgenital plate nearly rhomboic, lateral areas of middle area broadened, the middle of basal margin concave, posterior margin with a small triangular notch ( Fig. 2H View FIGURE 2 ).

Coloration. Body multicolored. Frons brown; gena with a longitudinal brown stripe; eyes dark brown; raised inner surface of antennal foveola black; disc of head with two pairs of longitudinal dark brown stripes, the central pair longer and the outer pair shorter. Flagellum of antennae with annular brown stripes. Disc of pronotum on anterior half area with a pair of longitudinal black stripes, the lateral margins with a pair of longitudinal yellow stripes; metazona black, lateral lobe black. Fore femora and tibiae, middle femora and tibiae, and outer surfaces of hind femora with irregular transverse brown stripes. Tegmina brown, with some irregularly dark brown spots. Processes of male tenth abdominal tergite black. Basal half of male cercus light yellowish brown, dorsal and ventral branches dark brown. Genitalia reddish brown. Basal area of ovipositor black brown, middle area brown.

Distribution. China (Hunan).

Discussion. This new species resembles Pseudokuzicus (Pseudokuzicus) platynus Di, Bian, Shi & Chang, 2014 , but it differs from the latter in: male genitalia with a pair of symmetric broader lamellar structures, inner surface slightly longitudinal concave; outer surface slightly convex, with transverse wrinkles; inner edge on dorsal surface with a line of thin teeth ( Fig. 2F–G View FIGURE 2 ); female subgenital plate nearly rhomboic, lateral areas of middle area broadened ( Fig. 2H View FIGURE 2 ).

Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from inner margin of dorsal area of male genitalia with a list of thin teeth, Latin dentatus means dentate.
