Color. Body yellow. Eyes red, darker ventrally. Margins of tylus, labrum, triangle at apex of second rostral segment, and longitudinal axis of third rostral segment, brown; fourth rostral segment dark brown. Dorsal surface of pronotum hyaline; lateral foveate margins opaque. Scutellum almost entirely opaque, hyaline region restricted to the apex. Hemelytra opaque, yellow; claval commissure, stripe of hemelytral process, and longitudinal median stripe, hyaline (fig. 1). Outer margin of fore trochanters, meso- and hind femora with elongate brown stain. Ventropleurites with outer half brown and inner half yellow. Setae of coxa and other areas dark brown, except of setae over trochanters to tarsi and connexivum, yellow.

Structural characteristics. Head with greatest width 2.0 times its median length and 4.3 times greatest width of vertex; median length 1.5 times median length of pronotum. Vertex a little longer than wide; anterior margin convex, not continuous with eyes. Ocular commissure four-sevenths of eye width; distinctly longer than vertex. Frons wide with setae sparse. Third rostral segment glabrous.

Body length 12.8 times median pronotum length. Pronotum posterior margin continuous; greatest width 3.4 times its median length. Scutellum with greatest width 1.2 times its median length; length 1.5 times median length of pronotum. Claval commissure of hemelytra merging at apex of wing with stripe of hemelytral process, which extends anterad for one-fourth of hemelytra length and bears long setae. Hemelytral process slightly shorter than membrane, extending for about nine-tenths of the membrane length. Claval commissure opaque area setose. Longitudinal median stripe very narrow with width near base about one-fourth of costal opaque area; originating near base of hemelytra, extending to membranal suture with costal margin; margins subparallel (fig. 1). Outer margin of fore trochanter with rounded process (fig. 2). Fore femur without spiniform setae. Mesotrochanter with one group of ensiform bristles near outer margin (fig. 3). Outer margin of mesofemur conspicuously setose (fig. 3). Metaxyphus longer than ventropleurites with apex trilobate (fig. 4). Apex of hind trochanter with sharp concavity (fig. 5).

Ventral abdominal keel with hairs distributed throughout lateral and anteroventral surfaces. Dorsal margin with middle portion of genital capsule concave (fig. 6A, B). Claspers rounded.

Paratypes. Measurements (coleopteroid male/ female). BL: 4.96–5.12/ 5.50–5.80; LV: 0.24–0.39/ 0.22–0.30; WV: 0.22–0.28/ 0.28–0.30; WE: 0.56–0.60/ 0.60–0.63; OC: 0.28–0.34/ 0.28–0.34; FS: 0.1/ 0.2; LH: 0.52–0.70/ 0.50–0.61; WH: 1.12–1.16/ 1.20–1.26; OI: 0.50–0.60/ 0.56–0.65; LP: 0.38–0.42/ 0.40–0.44; WP: 1.30–1.36/ 1.42– 1.48; LS: 0.42–0.62/ 0.60–0.70; WS: 0.52–0.82/ 0.62–0.80; LT: 3.84–4.16/ 4.74–4.96; EH: 0.50–0.60/ 0.62–0.67; LM: 0.56–0.64/ 0.72–0.76.

Color. Idem holotype.

Males. Structural characteristics. Head with greatest width 1.6 to 2.2 times its median length and 4.3 to 5 times greatest width of vertex; median length 1.3 to 1.7 times median length of pronotum. Ocular commissure about one-half to five-ninths of eye width; ratio between ocular commissure and length of vertex variable. Body length 12.2 to 13.0 times median length of pronotum. Pronotum with greatest width 3.2 to 3.5 times its median length. Scutellum with greatest width 1.2 to 1.4 times its median length; length equal, to 1.6 times median length of pronotum. Stripe of hemelytral process extending onto one-fifth to one-fourth of wing length. Hemelytral process extending onto four-fifths to subequal than membrane length.

Females. Structural characteristics. Head with greatest width 2.0 to 2.4 times its median length and 4.1 to 4.3 vertex length; median length 1.2 to 1.4 times median length of pronotum. Vertex larger than long. Ocular commissure three-sevenths to four-ninths of eye width; and equal or slightly longer than vertex. Frons wide.

Stripe of hemelytral process extending onto one-fourth of hemelytra length. Hemelytral process long, extending for six-sevenths to nine-tenths of membrane length. Longitudinal median stripe wide, slightly narrow than costal opaque area; margins continuous and parallel, tapering from half hemelytra length; outer margin raised (fig. 7). Margin of embolium with 23 to 27 teeth (fig. 7). Mesotrochanter without groups of ensiform bristles. Mesofemur not conspicuously setose.

Second half of abdomen with constriction where the toothed area fits; connexivum absent in this section (fig. 8).

Taxonomic note. Martarega siolii sp. nov. is similar to M. hungerfordi Truxal, 1949 , M. nieseri Barbosa, Ribeiro & Nessimian, 2012 and M. oriximinaensis in several respects. Males of these species have their hind trochanters with sharp concavity at apex (fig. 5) and claspers rounded (figs. 6A, 6B; 10A, 10B), while females bear toothed embolium and also the sharp concavity at their hind trochanters. The holotype and female paratype from INPA of M. siolii were previously designated as paratypes of M. oriximinaensis by Barbosa et al. (2012). Males of both species show the same pattern of stripes on hemelytra, both have groups of ensiform bristles near outer margin of mesotrochanter, and sharp concavity at hind trochanter apex. Males of M. siolii , however, have a rounded process at external margin of fore trochanter (fig. 2) and outer margin of mesofemur conspicuously setose (fig. 3). Female distinction is made through the longitudinal median stripe of hemelytra, with parallel margins in M. siolii (fig. 7) and with inner margin concave at one- and two-thirds of hemelytra length in M. oriximinaensis (fig. 11). Macropterous of M. siolii are not known.

Etymology. The species epithet, siolii , honors Dr. Harald F. L. Sioli .
