Micropsectra sp. A Epler
Figs 50A–F
Diagnosis. Labral lamella and premandible as in M. polita ; antennal pedestal with long digitiform spur, stalk of LO twice as long as 2 nd segment, AR 2.2; mandible with outer margin evenly arched, without lobe; mentum with first lateral tooth somewhat shorter or ending at the same level as 2 nd lateral; VM with narrow medial gap; anal tubules hooked ventrally; posterior parapod with about 15 claws.
Notes. This unassociated larva keys out to M. sp. A in Epler (2001) with the distinctive long digitiform spur on the antennal pedestal. It is very similar to the larva of Micropsectra aristata Pinder described by Pinder (1976) from England.
Ecology and habitat. Larvae occurred in all study streams in large numbers.
Sampling sites. We found the larvae inhabiting streams in all the provincial parks and districts located in our study area.
Nearctic distribution. Canada: Ontario. USA: South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida .
