Diagnosis. Dorsal surface of head capsule coarsely granular without tubercles; cephalic S3-seta (clypeal) branched; ventral mouthparts as in Fig. 52B; labral lamella well developed pectinate plate; premandible with three slender apical teeth, brush distinct; SI comb-like on inner side with bases contiguous; antenna ( Fig. 52C) 5-segmented with large finger-like spur on pedestal, curved ventrally (see Fig. 52A), 2 nd segment with alternating petiolate LO, blade reaching beyond distal LO, AR 1.0; mandible with pale dorsal tooth and three dark inner teeth; mentum with single pale median tooth, 1.75x as wide as 1 st lateral; VM plate fan-shaped, widely separated, with row of spinules along anterior margin; posterior end of abdomen as in Fig. 52D; procercus without spurs, with 4 long apical setae plus shorter one, lateral seta very long; anal tubules short, about half the length of posterior parapods. Portable sand case, generally straight and parallel-sided.

Notes. The premandible in our larvae have three apical teeth and there is no indication of an additional basal tooth; otherwise, all other characters fit the species description given by Ekrem (2007).

Ecology and habitat. Larvae were found in riffle and pools of study streams, typically occurred in the woody debris of study streams. The species was found sympatrically with Micropsectra in all habitats sampled. Species also occurs in sublittoral and profundal zones of Canadian lakes ( Ekrem 2007).

Sampling sites. Little White River, Arrowhead and Algonquin Provincial Parks.

Nearctic distribution. Canada: Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia. USA: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, ( Ekrem 2007) .
