Figs 13A–D
Diagnosis. Head capsule ( Fig. 13A) with smooth dorsal surface; antenna (see Fig. 13A) 4-segmented, total length 1.7x length of head, 2 nd and 3 rd segments darkened, AR 0.7; mentum ( Fig. 13B) with median teeth showing considerable wear, although, there appears to be a tiny central tooth ( Fig. 13C, III instar), 5 lateral teeth, 1 st lateral tooth reduced; [IV instar abdomen missing].
Notes. Species can't be determined with certainty based on a single incomplete fourth instar larva which keys out to Epler's (2001) species H. Three III instars, believed to belong to the same species have a basal antennal segment 98 µm long and the subbasal setae possess long spinules grouped basally, mostly on one side ( Fig. 13D).
Ecology and habitat. See preceding species. Larvae from stream sites were collected mainly from riffles.
Sampling sites. Algonquin and Massasauga Provincial Parks and Muskoka District.
Nearctic distribution. Canada: Ontario.
