PROSIMULIUM RACHILIENSE DJAFAROV View in CoL CYTOFORM ‘A’

Cytoform ‘A’, consisting of 83 larvae from the Caucasus Mountains of Armenia, was fixed for inversions IS- 20 and IS-21 ( Fig. 4 View Figure 4 ) and had a sex-differential segment in the expanded centromere region of chromosome I. Males were characterized by a lack of pairing in section 19′ of the CIt region; lack of pairing ranged from imperceptible (X 0 Y 0), approaching the paired condition in females (e.g. Site 5), to complete repulsion (X 0 Y 1). Autosomal inversion IL-10 ( Fig. 6B View Figure 6 ) was found in 15– 23% of homologues per site, and was in Hardy−Weinberg equilibrium at Site 3 ( Table 3). Four additional autosomal inversions were rare, including the perinucleolar IL-11 inversion ( Table 3; Fig. 7 View Figure 7 ). One female had a large block of heterochromatin, 88hc(r), in one homologue ( Fig. 11 View Figure 11 ). Ectopic pairing of centromere bands occurred frequently .
