ORIGIN: From the dorsal surface of the iliac crest.

INSERTION: On the third trochanter of the femur.

REMARKS: This muscle has the same general form in Condylura , Desmana , Galemys , Neurotrichus , Parascalops , Scalopus , Scapanus , Talpa , Uropsilus , and Urotrichus .
