A junior synonym of this species, Pristomachaerus messi Bates 1873 , was described from specimens which originated from Hong Kong and were given to Bates by Herr Mess of Munich ( Bates 1873b). This synonym was also listed by Hua. Chaudoir (1878), Andrewes (1921a & 1921c) and Kirschenhofer (2003a) list this species for Hong Kong. Material: 1 ex. W.T., 7.v.06. Biology: Imago found May.
