Genus Platymetopus Dejean, 1829 View in CoL
Platymetopus flavilabris ( Fabricius, 1798) View in CoL
Listed by Schauberger (1933) as occurring in Hong Kong (variant corrosus View in CoL ), but not listed by Kataev et al. (2003). Specimens agree with the type descriptions of P. corrosus Bates 1873a View in CoL and P. punctulicollis Bates 1889 View in CoL , both junior synonyms of this species. Determination confirmed by Liang Hong Bin (pers. comm.) and D.W. Wrase (pers. comm.). Material: ♀ W.T.L., 19.iii.15; sight record W.T.L., 31.iii.09; sight record W.T.L., 1.iv.09; Sight record 1 ex W.T.L., 16.iv.14; Sight record W.T.L., 28.iv.15; Sight record W.T.L., 30.iv.15; Sight record W.T.L., 2.v.15; 1 ex. W.T.L., October 2011. Biology: Imago found March to October. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight. This species seems to have a preference for vertical surfaces.
Platymetopus quadrimaculatus Dejean, 1829 View in CoL
New record for Hong Kong. This is the first record of this distinctive species that was confirmed by D.W. Wrase from photo (pers. comm.). Material: 1 ex. W.T.L., 29.vi.08; 1 ex. W.T.L., 25.viii.13; 1 ex. W.T.L., 2.ix.10; sight record 1 ex. W.T.L., 9.ix.13. Biology: Imago found June to September. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.
Platymetopus tritus Bates, 1889 View in CoL
Listed by Schauberger (1933), Hua (2002), and Kataev et al. (2003) as occurring in Hong Kong. It maybe that this species is a junior synonym of P. flavilabris ( Fabricius, 1798) View in CoL , from which it seems to differ in being smaller in size.
