Hedinobius hummelii Verhoeff, 1934 View in CoL

Hedinobius hummelii Verhoeff, 1934: 32 View in CoL ; Zapparoli & Edgecombe 2011: 375.

Hedinobius hummelii View in CoL was described from a single female from “Fu-shu-shi,” in the Tien Shan of western China. There is a city Fushun in Liaoning Province, and “shi” is generally taken to mean “city.” This may be the type locality. Verhoeff compared Hedinobius View in CoL to Cermatobius View in CoL (as Esastigmatobius , a junior synonym), and placed it in Zygethobiinae (now Zygethobiini ) as did Zapparoli & Edgecombe (2011). The genus Hedinobius View in CoL seems to differ from Dzhungaria only in having coxal spines on both the 14th and 15th leg-pairs, as in Ghilaroviella View in CoL . Clearly the three Central Asian genera need re-evaluation based on examination of the type specimens. It seems arbitrary to place Dzhungaria in Anopsobiidae and Hedinobius View in CoL in Zygethobiini .
