Tribe Zygethobiini Chamberlin, 1912

Originally considered a subfamily, phylogenetic studies convinced Edgecombe and Giribet (2003a) to follow Attems (1928) and consider it to be a tribe. Zygethobiini is almost exclusive to the Northern Hemisphere ( Cermatobius martensii from Adenora, Indonesia, being its only Southern record), but the exact placement of some of the genera now assigned to it is open to question. Buethobius and Yobius are here removed from the tribe and reassigned to Anopsobiidae . As a nomenclatorial note, Chamberlin established the subfamily in a key in his 1912 monograph, as correctly noted by Attems (1928) and Mercurio (2010). Hollington & Edgecombe (2004) erroneously attribute the tribe Zygethobiini to Attems, 1914, but by coordination of names, the tribe must be attributed to Chamberlin, the describer of the subfamily.
