Genus Xyloesteles Popov & Herczek gen. nov.

Type species: Xyloesteles parvulus sp.nov.

Diagnosis. A small species, not longer than 2.0 mm. Dorsal surface of body distinct rough, with uniformly distributed dense suberect hairs ( Figs. 1, 2 , 9 , 10). Head with large eyes, strongly flattened and attaining almost 2/3 of head, touching with each other from below; ocelli distinct; rostrum very short and thick, not reaching base of head; antennae short, not less than 3 times as long as body length and covered with quite dense, short hairs, 2nd antennal segment longest ( Figs. 7, 11 ); pronotum distinctly transverse, not less than twice as wide as long; collar absent; lateral pronotal margins distinctly carinate; scutellum very short ( Figs. 2 , 10), some more 2 times shorter than mesoscutum length; hemelytra covered rather dense, suberect hairs; cuneal fracture weakly designate: membrane with one weakly visible supplementary vein. Metathoracic scent-gland groove present on metapleuron, evaporatory area distinctly developed ( Fig. 4 ). Fore femora with microscopic denticles on inner side; tibia of all pairs of legs with thin spines on their inner side; 1st segment of tarsi shortest and hardly visible, 2nd and 3rd tarsal segments almost equal size; claws straight, weakly curved

Etymology. From generic names Xyloecocoris and Brachysteles .

Differential diagnosis. This new genus is related to Brachysteles Mulsant & Rey, 1852 , Xyloecocoris Reuter, 1879 , and Dysepicritus Reuter, 1884 , by the very short rostrum reaching only the base of head; but it can be easily separated by a rough dorsal surface of body, a different configuration of pronotum and another carinate lateral pronotal margins, and a very small scutellum.

Composition. Two species: Xyloesteles parvulus sp. nov. and Xyloesteles kerneggeriorum sp. nov.
