Diagnosis

Three distinct features are present in this species: the distinctly pale pedicellus (figure 92) contrasting against dark scape (colour of pedicel varies in type series from pale to dark, but in all non-type specimens studied the pedicel is predominantly white while the scape is dark brown), the infuscate median part of fore wing (figure 1) (infuscation varies from weak to strong in the specimens at our disposal), and propodeal callus with more than two setae (three to eight).

Material examined

Syntype series from USNM (type No. 2618): seven specimens glued to same card (the leftmost specimen is missing, only parts of legs remain glued to card), five males and one female —female third from right and the only specimen glued upsidedown, labelled: ‘No. 741a, Chalcid on Fuchsia—Aleurodes , iss. Nov.15.80’, ‘ Gyrolasia flavimedia Hwd ms’; and three specimens (all males) on slide, labelled ‘ Aleurodes on Fuchsia , Los Angeles, Calif .’. Lectotype one of the males glued to the card (fourth from right), hereby designated, the five additional specimens on the card and the three specimens on slide are paralectotypes, hereby designated.

Additional material. 4 X 2 W from Costa Rica (in BMNH, LUZM, INBio, MIUCR).

Hosts Aleyrodes spp. (LaSalle and Schauff, 1994).

Distribution

Costa Rica (new record), Cuba (Mora Morin, 1985), USA (Howard, 1881), the West Indies ( Jamaica (Mercet, 1912)).
