olea View in CoL

Ampullaria olea Reeve, 1856d View in CoL : pl. 21, fig. 102. Type material — syntype: NHMUK 20140841 (1 spm.). Type locality —[no locality given]. Distribution — India ( Paetel 1887: 480; Preston 1915: 102; Prashad 1925: 77), specifically Cachar and Assam ( Subba Rao 1989: 59).

Remarks. Pila , teste Preston (1915: 102) and Subba Rao (1989: 59).

orbata

Pomacea orbata Perry, 1811b View in CoL : pl. 38, fig. 5. Type material —location unknown [probably lost (Petit 2003: 17)]. Type locality —“West Indies” [error].

Remarks. Perry stated that this species was “supposed to be a native of the West Indies”, but it was placed in Pachylabra (synonym of Pila ) by Mörch (1852: 50) as a senior synonym of virens Lamarck and globosa Swainson. Synonym of globosa Swainson , teste Pilsbry (1927b: 63), but of ampullacea Linnaeus , teste G.B. Sowerby III (1910: 56), Brandt (1974: 49) and Ng et al. (2014: 32), followed here. The name ornata of Paetel (1887: 480) is here considered an incorrect subsequent spelling of orbata Perry and therefore unavailable (Code, Art. 33.3).

orientalis

Ampullaria orientalis Philippi, 1849a: 192 View in CoL . Type material —possible syntypes: MNHNCL 15914 (1 spm., old number 61.094), MNHNCL 15915 (1 spm., 61.050), MNHNCL 15916 (1 operculum, 61.086), MNHNCL 15930 (2 spms., 61.072), MNHNCL 15937 (1 spm., 61.092), MNHNCL 15944 (1 spm., 61.055), MNHNCL 15960 (1 operculum, 61.077), SMF 344087 (1 spm., labelled as a paratype). Type locality —“ Insula Java, Philippinae, China ”.

Remarks. The material in the Philippi collection in MNHNCL labelled as orientalis Philippi appears to belong to more than one species and may not all be type material. Synonym of conica Wood , teste Nevill (1877: 7). Variety of conica Wood , teste Nevill (1885: 5), G.B. Sowerby III (1910: 58) and Preston (1915: 101). Synonym of scutata Mousson , teste Philippi (1851: 9), Gaudion (1880: 39; as “ scuttata ”), Brandt (1974: 52), Low et al. (2013: 56) and Ng et al. (2014: 34), followed here. Synonym of scutata Philippi , non Mousson, teste Alderson (1925: 78).
