Genus Palimphemus Kner, 1862

Remarks. The fossil otolith-based genus Colliolus Gaemers & Schwarzhans, 1973 , commonly recorded from the Oligocene and Miocene of the North Sea Basin, has recently been synonymized with the skeleton-based Palimphemus after otoliths in situ were found in a specimen from Poland ( Schwarzhans 2014).
