FEMALE (Specimens measured – South Africa: 2).

Dorsum ­ Dorsal shield with few lateral striae on anterior half and scattered striae over posterior half, often faint, 376­387 long and 245­248 wide. Setae j1 35­40, j3 40­42, j4 8­ 10, j5 10, j6 13, J2 14­16, J5 6, z2 13, z4 27­30, z5 8­10, Z1 14­16, Z4 16, Z5 54­62, s4 64­ 66, S2 18, S4 19, S5 16­19, r3 14­16, R1 10­11. Dorsal setae smooth, except Z5, which are serrate.

Peritreme ­ Reaching level of j3.

Venter ­ All ventral shields smooth. Distances between ST1­ST3 66, ST2­ST2 72 and ST5­ST5 82­91. A single pair of metapodal shields. Ventrianal shield 115­131 long, 67­70 wide at ZV2 level and 77­78 wide at anus level.

Chelicera ­ Movable digit 24 long, with 1 tooth; fixed digit 25 long, with 5 teeth.

Spermatheca ­ Calyx 16­19 long, flaring distally and slightly bulged near atrium, which is small.

Legs ­ Macrosetae sharp­tipped: SgeI 21, SgeII 21­24, SgeIII 30­32, StiIII 26­29, SgeIV 53­58, StiIV 40­43, StIV 56­61.

MALE (Specimens measured – South Africa: 1).

Dorsum ­ Dorsal shield 282 long. Setae j1 37, j3 43, j4 and j5 10, j6 11, J2 13, J5 5, z2 14, z4 34, z5 10, Z1 14, Z5 51, s4 54, S2 19, S4 and S5 21, r3 16, R1 10.

Peritreme ­ Reaching level between j1 and j3.

Venter ­ Ventrianal shield 125 long, 173 wide at anterior corners.

Chelicera ­ Shaft of spermatodactyl 29 long.

Legs – Macrosetae sharp­tipped: SgeII 19, SgeIII 24, SgeIV 45, StiIV 38, StIV 51.

REMARKS: McMurtry (1980) proposed the synonymy indicated for this species based on hybridization tests conducted in laboratory. Because of page priority, it is understood that the correct procedure is to retain the specific name rubicolus rather than addoensis , used by McMurtry.
