Type Locality: Indonesia, E Sumatra, Kateman River.

Vernacular Names: Sumatran Giant Shrew.

Synonyms: Crocidura villosa Robinson and Kloss 1918 .

Distribution: E Sumatra.

Discussion: Formerly included in C. fuliginosa , but resurrected by Ruedi (1995). Karyotype has 2n = 37-38, FN = 54 ( Ruedi and Vogel, 1995).
