Diagnosis. Cercal plate on distal margin with 3 processes (2 submedian, 1 median), the median one apparently not arising from any subcercal structure. Surstylus never apically bifurcate, though sometimes with a tooth on inner margin medially

Species included in this group from China are B. betarum ( Lintner, 1883) , B. fugax ( Meigen, 1826) , B. hucketti ( Ringdahl, 1935) , and B. profuga ( Stein, 1916) .
