Hosts: Galerida cristata (L.) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]; Melanocorypha calandra (L.)* [1].
Distribution in Bulgaria: Sliven, Petrich [1]; Malko Tarnovo [2]; Petrich, Gotse Delchev [3]; Pazardzhik, Aleko Konstantinovo (Pazardzhik Region), Katunitsa, Sadovo, Izbeglii (Plovdiv Region), Stara Zagora, Harmanli, Ivanovo, Bryagovo, Biser (Haskovo Region), Topolovgrad [4]; Belogradchik, Berkovitsa, Godech, Botevgrad, Zlatitsa, Karlovo, Gabrovo [5].
Remarks: Philopterus stepposus Fedorenko, 1984 is known as a specific parasite of Melanocorypha calandra (L.) ( Price et al. 2003). The identification of the lice from this host species identified as Philopterus alexanderkoenigi (Eichler, 1953) by Balát (1958) requires additional studies.
