Philopterus excisus Nitzsch, 1818 View in CoL
Reports: [1] Balát (1958); [2] Touleshkov (1964a); [3] Touleshkov (1974).
Hosts: Delichon urbicum (L.) [2, 3]; Hirundo rustica L.* [1, 3]; Riparia riparia (L.)* [1].
Distribution in Bulgaria: Sliven [1]; Pazardzhik, Ognyanovo (Pazardzhik Region), Stara Zagora, Harmanli, Ivanovo (Haskovo Region) [2]; Belogradchik, Klisura monastery (Montana Region), Godech, Belogradchik, Berkovitsa, Varshets, Vratsa, Godech, Staninci (Sofia Region), Botevgrad, Tvarditsa, Gabrovo, Kazanlak [3].
Remarks: As a parasite of Riparia riparia (L.) and Hirundo rustica L., Philopterus microsomaticus Tandan, 1955 has been recorded ( Price et al. 2003). The identification of the lice identified by Balát (1958) and Touleshkov (1974) as Philopterus excisus Nitzsch, 1818 on these hosts requires additional studies.
