Diagnosis. Ecnomina anulla closely resembles other species in the group in possessing the slender lateral pair of dorsal processes on tergum X and shares with E. alluna and E. bula laterally incised fused or joined inferior appendages. It is distinguished by the inferior appendages, which in ventral view are more strongly excised laterally.

Description. Head, body and wings brown, abdomen paler ventrally; wings similar to E. legula ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Forewing length about 3.0–3.2 times width: male 3.4–3.9 mm. fork 2 relatively long, sessile, length about 1.3–1.4 times length of fork 3; fork 3 relatively long, with short footstalk, fork about 4 times length footstalk, footstalk length about 1.2 times length cross-vein m, r-m and m nearly contiguous at fork 3, r-m and m separated by about 1.2 times length of cross-vein m; fork 4 shorter than fork 3; fork 5 long, length about twice length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 3.2–3.3 times width, fork 2 sessile, length about 1.8–1.9 times length of fork 3.

Male. Tergum X membranous, fused basally, with one pair of relatively robust dorsal processes mesally and slender pair laterally ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 123–128 ), a ventral process also present. Superior appendages in lateral view, robust, broad basally, tapered in distal half, length about 2.2 times width ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 123–128 ); in dorsal view, robust, length about 2.8 times width, with several spines in distal third, dilated slightly distally ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 123–128 ). Phallus down turned and dilated apically ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 123–128 ). Inferior appendages short, fused or joined; in ventral view, length about 0.8 times width, broad basally, rounded baso-laterally, narrowed about middle, excised strongly dist-laterally, truncate distally ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 123–128 ); in lateral view, narrowed and upturned slightly in distal half ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 123–128 ).
