Figures 43–45 View FIGURES 40–45

Diagnosis. Daternomina hamata is separated from others in the genus by the combination of the inferior appendages which are fused and have relatively angular sides and a shallow notch distally, the superior appendages with crenulated margins, plus the distinctive hook-like processes dorsal to the phallus.

Description. Head, body and wings light brown; wings similar to D. irrorata ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ) except fork 2 nygma absent. Forewing length about 3 times width: male 4.1–4.4 mm. Forewing fork 2 relatively long, sessile, about 1.3 times length of fork 3; fork 3 relatively long with short footstalk, length fork 3 greater than 10 times length footstalk, footstalk about 0.6 times length cross-vein m; r-m and m separated at fork 3 by about 1.5 times length of cross-vein m; fork 4 shorter than fork 3; fork 5 long, about 1.8 times length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 3 times width, fork 2 sessile, length about 1.6 times length of fork 3.

Male. Tergum X membranous, short ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Superior appendages in lateral view, slightly bulbous, length about twice width, with crenulated margin ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 40–45 ); in dorsal view, relatively slender, length about 3.5 times width, with row of small projections, each with apical spiny setae on mesal margin ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Phallus generally tube-like, narrowed subapically, with a pair of long processes laterally and a pair of hooked processes dorsally; with a pair of curved processes (phallic guides) arising from near the base of the inferior appendages ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 40–45 ). Inferior appendages dorso-ventrally flattened; in ventral view, length about same as width, fused in basal two-thirds, angular lateral margins, distal one-third separated narrowly by a mesal split ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 40–45 ); in lateral view, robust, length about 2.5 times width, tapered slightly distally ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 40–45 ).

Female. Unknown.
