Phamaptera new genus
Type species: Phamaptera lamdongensis n. sp.
Diagnosis. Micropterous, small size (2.6–3.1mm); body oval, antennae stout, surface submat and smooth with elevated structures on pronotum, deltg II and tergal plate; metathoracic scent gland evaporatoria large and Sshaped, reflexed anterolaterally and dorsally.
Description. Head. About as wide as long; clypeus short, apex rounded; antenniferous lobes shorter than clypeus, blunt; antennae stout about 1.5x as long as width of head; segment I thickest, II shortest, III longest, IV about as long as I with pilose apex; eyes inserted in head; postocular lobes rounded; rostrum arising from a slit-like atrium as long as head.
Pronotum. Subrectangular, roundly converging anteriorly; disk depressed at middle, flanked by 2 (1+1) carinae converging anteriorly; lateral margins of anterior lobe carinate, anterolateral angles rounded, slightly produced over collar; dorsally reflexed S-structure of metathoracic evaporatorium concealing posterolateral humeri and is visible from above.
Meso- and Metanotum. Fused to each other and to mtg I+II without visible fusion lines, consisting of a smooth medially slightly convex plate and lateral sclerites of wing pads, these separated by a suture; mtg II with shallow impressions laterally.
Abdomen. Tergal plate with a longitudinal elevation, lateral parts smooth and flat; deltg II+III fused with carinate lateral margin, deltg II with a distinct granulate elevation along inner margin; deltg III–VII separated by sutures, lateral margins evenly rounded, surface flat with shallow impressions.
Venter. Pro-, meso-, and metasternum fused to mst II+III, fusion lines marked by shallow furrows, surface smooth; sternites III–VII separated by sutures, surface smooth submat, lateral margins rugose; spiracles II–VI placed on tubercles close to lateral margin, not visible from above, VII lateral, VIII terminal on paratergites VIII.
Legs. Femora incrassate apically, trochanters distinct, tibiae straight, tarsi two-segmented, claws with thin pulvilli.
Etymology. It is a pleasure to dedicate this conspicuous new flat bug genus to Minh Lan Pham (Lao Cai, Vietnam, and CAU), who discovered and collected it.
Discussion. The habitus of Phamaptera n. gen. resembles the micropterous genus Hutanicoris Heiss 1993 described from Malaysia and Indonesia; however, the scent gland structure and evaporatorium are smaller and elongate-oblique, and the scutellum is distinctly marked by a suture in Hutanicoris.
The structure and outline of the anterolaterally and dorsally reflexed evaporatorium of the metathoracic scent gland are unique and not yet known from any other Oriental or Indoaustralian Mezirinae ; they therefore distinguish this genus from all Mezirinae genera with this character.

Diagnosis. Phamaptera lamdongensis n. sp. is closely related to the second species of this genus P. bachmaensis n. sp. but is distinguished by the much thinner whitish S-structure of the evaporatorium (compare photo 1 and 7).
Description. Male, micropterous, of dark brown coloration; surface submat with carinate elevations on pronotum and deltg II.
PHOTOS1 – 6. Phamaptera lamdongensis n. gen., n. sp. paratypes. 1– 3 male, 4– 6 female; 1,4 dorsal view; 2,5 lateral view; 3,6 ventral view.
Head. Slightly wider across eyes than long (0.54/0.45); clypeus short, dorsally and apically rounded, genae thin adherent; antenniferous lobes shorter than clypeus, apex blunt, lateral margins parallel; antennae short and stout, 1.54x as long as width of head; segment I slightly clavate and thickest, II shortest and thinner, III longest and cylindrical, IV about as long as I tapering toward base, apex pilose; eyes granular inserted in head; granular postocular lobes roundly converging to constricted neck; vertex granulate flanked by 2(1+1) incised ovate callosities; rostrum arising from a slit-like atrium, as long as head, rostral groove deep with carinate lateral margins, open posteriorly.
Pronotum. Subrectangular about twice as wide as long; disk flat at middle, raised posterolaterally, a longitudinal median sulcus meets posteriorly a curved transverse groove; lateral margins raised and carinate converging anteriorly, reaching triangular collar; anterolateral margins carinate, anterolateral angles rounded slightly produced over collar, this delimited posteriorly by a convex suture, its surface smooth; posterolateral humeri concealed by the dorsally reflexed evaporatorial structures of metathoracic scent glands which are visible from above, a thin gaping S-shaped whitish channel is the most striking feature.
Meso- and Metanotum. Fused to a wide medially slightly convex smooth plate which is fused posteriorly to mtg I+II; no fusion lines discernible; anterolateral angles triangularly elevated, laterally delimited by oval wing pads, these carinate anterolaterally and separated from median plate by sulci; mtg II laterally depressed with 4(2+2) round apodemal markings; posterior margin slightly concave.
