Neotype (Letschert in Wageningen Agric. Univ. Pap. 93-1: 28, photo 1.3. 1993): Belgium. Nieuwpoort. Letschert & Fey 137 (WAG).

Current name: Beta vulgaris L. subsp. maritima (L.) Arcang. View in CoL ( Chenopodiaceae ).

Note: Hedge (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 172: 21. 1997) subsequently indicated 314.3 (LINN) as type, a specimen rejected from consideration by Letschert on the grounds that it came from “Aegypto”, conflicting with Linnaeus’ “… Angliae, Belgii …”.
