Discussion: For placement in Soricinae see Vogel and Besancon (1979); formerly in tribe Neomyini ; see Repenning (1967:45). Gureev (1971:226) placed Nectogale in a subtribe Nectogalina , but all authors prior to McKenna and Bell (1997) overlooked the fact that Nectogalini Anderson, 1879 was available.
