Diagnosis. The barcode of this species is most similar to that of the western North American species, M. cryptizona , from which it differs by minimum p-distance of 1.71%. The wings of the two are well separated by landmarking ( Fig. 31 View Fig ).

This species is in BOLDas BOLD:ADB5984.

Distribution. Costa Rica. Six of the seven specimens were found at the site PL12-3 (forest margin), and one at PL12-6 (deep within the forest).

Etymology. Named for the tropical nature of this species’ distribution.
