Chelostoma (Gyrodromella) hebraeum ( Benoist, 1935)

Heriades hebraea Benoist, 1935: 280 . Type material: Holotype ♂, “ Palestine: Jérusalem” ( Israel), Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle Paris. Synonymy with Chelostoma handlirschi Schletterer in Schwarz et al. (1996) proved to be erroneous after examination of the type material.

Distribution. Central to easternmost Turkey and southwards to the Levant ( Israel and Palestine, Jordan); westernmost record: Göksu (Mersin province, Turkey).

Pollen hosts. Probably oligolectic on Campanula (Campanulaceae) and possibly also closely related genera (based on the microscopical analysis of 2 pollen loads from 2 different localities).

Nesting biology. Unknown.
