( Figs. 5, 6 View FIGURES 1 – 9. 1, 2, 4 , 11 View FIGURES 10 – 16. 10 , 36, 38 View FIGURES 28 – 39. 28 – 35, 37 , 74 View FIGURES 63 – 75. 63 – 69 , 76 View FIGURE 76 )
Dicrania parvula Frey 1970: 287 ; 1972: 69; Evans 2003: 266 (catalog); Evans & Smith 2005: 224 (catalog); 2007: 226 (catalog); 2009: 229 (catalog).
Diagnosis. Body slightly flattened dorsoventrally, without green reflection; clypeus without denticle-like setae; elytral striae shallowly and irregularly punctate.
Description. Body ( Figs. 5, 6 View FIGURES 1 – 9. 1, 2, 4 ) fusiform in dorsal view, slightly flattened dorsoventrally; length 5.5 mm; width 3.2 mm at the middle of elytra. Color dark brown; elytra pale at apex. Head ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10 – 16. 10 ) width 1.2 mm. Width of eye in dorsal view about 6.6 times narrower than interocular area. Epistomal suture straight. Frons and clypeus with and without denticle-like setae, respectively. Pronotum length 1.5 mm, width 1.8 mm. Protarsal claws with similar teeth. Scutellum 1.8 times narrower than anterior elytral margin. Elytral striae shallowly and irregularly punctate. Posterior wing with AP3+4 inconspicuous. Female metafemur ( Figs. 36, 38 View FIGURES 28 – 39. 28 – 35, 37 ) slightly enlarged, without modified setae. Female terminalia ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 63 – 75. 63 – 69 ). Proctiger indistinct; paraprocts membranous; membranous lobe wide. Gonocoxite pieces connate; proximal piece large, smooth, glabrous; distal pieces elongate, internal and apical margins setose.
Discussion. Male unknown. Compsodactylus parvulus can be distinguished from the other two species in the genus by the dorsoventrally flattened body, clypeus without denticle-like setae, and elytral striae shallowly and irregularly punctate. Compsodactylus parvulus and C. scabrosus have similar size, gonocoxite pieces connate, gosnostyle absent, however the gonocoxite distal piece in C. parvulus is longer than in C. scabrosus .
Distribution ( Fig. 76 View FIGURE 76 ). The holotype of C. parvulus was collected in Coari, 3000 m, a locality of Cochabamba Province, next to Parque Nacional Carrasco, in the eastern Bolivian Andes.
Type Series. Frey (1970) described the species based in a simple specimen erroneously identified as male. Labels: [ Bolívia | Cochabamba | Coari, 3.000 m || or. Zischka | 500m] [Type] {red label} [♀] [ Dicrania | parvula | det. Frey 1970 | sp. n.] [ Compsodactylus parvulus | ( Frey, 1970) | det. J. Fuhrmann 2012]. The holotype has right flagellum, left wing and external genitalia detached; left flagellum, right protarsomeres III–V lost.
Material examined. BOLIVIA, COCHABAMBA: Cochabamba, Coari , 3,000 m, Zischka (collector), ♀ (holotype) ( NHMB) .
