Note: As noted by Stearn (in Geck & Pressler, Festschr. Claus Nissen: 631. 1974, this “name” resulted from the misplacement of “Damasonium” within a list of Serapias names in a revised version of the 1756 thesis, Flora Monspeliensis. Stearn suggested that “Damasonium” was intended as a varietal epithet under S. helleborine , but this does not seem to have been adopted in any of Linnaeus’ later works.
