Lectotype (Howe in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 39: 201. 1912; Jørgensen & al. in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 330, f. 44. 1994): Herb. Linn. No. 1273.101, lower left specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Cetraria nivalis (L.) Ach. ( Parmeliaceae).

Note: Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 330, 378, f. 44. 1994) restricted Howe’s original type choice to one of the specimens on the sheet.
