Type :— COLOMBIA. Boyacá: Cordillera Oriental. Arcabuco, al NE de la población, 2650 m., 12 Oct 1966, Garcia Barriga 18767 (holotype: AMES-112711, UGDA drawing!) .
Notes:— Not Stelis rectangularis Luer & Escobar in Luer (2016b). The new name refers to the fancied appearance of the ant-like lip in the original illustration.
