Odocoileus virginianus is a medium-sized slim deer with long legs, a flat back, and a long narrow head ( Reid 2009). The only similar species in the region is M. temama . However, O. virginianus is larger and has a white belly, distinctive antlers, has and a flat back com- pared with the arched back of M. temama .
