5.2.18. The Scaphisoma rouyeri View in CoL species group
Members of this group share symmetrical aedeagi with the dorsal side of the apical process of the median lobe bearing a partly split valve ( LÖBL 1981a). These species have a complex internal sac, parameres usually lobed, the articular process of the median lobe not prominent, the metaventrite with antecoxal puncture rows, the elytral punctation often conspicuously coarse and partly arranged to form oblique rows, the sutural striae of the elytra shortened and not bent at bases, and the abdomen with strigulate microsculpture. Scaphisoma hiekei is placed tentatively in this group. It differs from Philippine members of the group by the not shortened sutural striae of the elytra and elytral punctation not arranged in rows.
