Aleiodes brevimedius sp. nov.

Holotype ♀, Thailand, Tak Province, Bhumipol Dam , 8.viii.2007, R. Butcher (voucher BB00104, no sequence data) ( CUMZ).

Length of body 4.2 mm, of fore wing 4.2 mm and of antenna 5.6 mm.

Antenna with 40 flagellomeres. Terminal flagellomere acuminate. Subapical flagellomeres rather moniliform. Median flagellomeres approximately 1.5 x longer than wide. Occipital carina medially obliterated. Mesopleuron largely aciculate, anteriorly and dorsally rugose, precoxal sulcus weakly impressed, strongly rugose, specular area entirely aciculate. Propodeum with complete midlongitudinal carina. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 1.7 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell with distinct glabrous lozenge-shaped zone. Fore wing vein 3-SR 0.7 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2-SR+M 0.7 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 3.85 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 2.2 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing vein m-cu moderately developed, straight, weakly pigmented, interstitial. Apex of hind tibia with combs of specialised adpressed setae apico medially and apicoventrally between spurs. Claws without conspicuous pecten. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite moderately large, angular, posteriorly concave. Midlongitudinal carina of 3 rd tergite well-differentiated, present on anterior 0.9 of tergum. 4 th metasomal tergite striate on basal third.

Etymology. In reference to the short hind wing medial vein (1-M).

Notes. Keyed out twice in case the sculpture of the 4 th tergite is concealed.
