Remarks: Chelifer entzii was described by Daday and Tömösváry (in Daday 1880) based on four specimens collected from Székelyudvarhely (now Odorheiu Secuiesc in Romania). Beier (1932b) subsequently synonymized it with Rhacochelifer peculiaris . Unfortunately, the type material could not be found in the HNHM collections, and it is probably lost ( Novák & Dányi 2018). Furthermore, Beier (1932b) did not state whether he studied these specimens or relied on the description given by Daday and Tömösváry (1880). The original description of Daday and Tömösváry (in Daday 1880) is quite brief and lacks figures. Tömösváry (1882a) later provided a supplementary description in his monograph on the Hungarian pseudoscorpion fauna, in which he states that the third pedipalpal article (i.e. the femur) is broadened towards the patella (then called the tibia); however, this character is not typical for R. peculiaris . As the occurrence of R. peculiaris in the Carpathian Basin is doubtful (see above), and the original description of C. entzii shows more similarities with Dactylochelifer latreillii than with R. peculiaris , Beier’s synonymy of C. entzii with R. peculiaris is discounted. Due to the lack of type material we have no opportunity to elucidate the identity of the specimens studied by Daday and Tömösváry, Chelifer entzii is here designated as a nomen dubium.
