Occurrence: Croatia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia ( Muster et al. 2024).

Known localities in Hungary: Bódi-Szék; Hortobágy; Izsák; Munkástelep; Sándorfalva; Velencei Lake ( Just et al. 2023; Muster et al. 2024).

New data: nil.

Habitat preference: as the material of this species sequenced by Muster et al. (2024) was collected either from the Mediterranean coast, or from Pannonic salt steppes, this species is likely to be associated with salt-affected habitats.

Remarks: Dactylochelifer ninnii was originally described by Canestrini (1876) from Italy, and it was later regarded as a junior synonymy of D. latreillii by Simon (1885). As a result of integrative taxonomical investigations, D. ninnii was recently reinstated to species status from synonymy and also newly recorded for Hungary by Muster et al. (2024).
