2018: 319, Červená et al. 2020a: 223; WPC 2023.

Occurrence: Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, United Kingdom (WPC 2023).

Known localities in Hungary: Sátoraljaújhely ( Tömösváry 1882a). Vádé ( Daday 1889b). Pápa ( Novák 2013b).

New data: Pápa: 04.1896, leg. JW (HNHM Pseud-1358: 1 juv.); 03.1897, leg. JW (HNHM Pseud-1557: 6♀) .

Habitat preference: This species prefers dry and dark habitats, with detritus, and can be found in tree hollows and birds nests ( Christophoryová et al. 2011c, d)

Remarks: Daday described Cheiridium tetrophthalmum from south-western Hungary ( Daday 1889b), which was later regarded as a junior synonymy of Geogarypus minor by Beier (1932b). Consequently, G. minor was referred as part of the Hungarian faunal list for almost 80 years ( Beier 1963a; Harvey 1991; Kárpáthegyi 2007) until Harvey (2011) concluded that the type material (which was lost) must have been belonged to the species Larca lata . Since then, further specimens of this species have been found in the country ( Novák 2013b). The inventory number of the specimens was missing from Novák (2013b), which are supplemented here: HNHM Pseud-1359: 1♂; HNHM Pseud-1360: 1♀. Furthermore, another taxon described from Hungary, Garypus hungaricus (Tömösváry) , was also found to be a junior synonym of L. lata ( Harvey et al. 2018) . As G. hungaricus predates the original description of L. lata by two years, a petition to the International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature was made to preserve the name Larca lata (International Commission of Zoological Nomenclature 2020).
