Habitat preference: Roncus lubricus prefers the following habitats: leaf litter, under stones, under tree bark, grass, moss ( Beier, 1963a; Legg & Jones 1988). In Hungary, it has been reported from mixed forest of oak and beech, and from oak-hornbeak forest ( Kárpáthegyi 2007), and from oak, beech and mixed linden-ash forests ( Novák 2012, 2013a).
Remarks: this species is widespread across Hungary. The Hungarian Roncus data reported before 2010 probably was not checked for all the characteristics used by modern authors ( Gardini 1983; Mahnert & Gardini 2014; Latifi et al. 2020) to delimitate species within the genus, thus all these material needs to be revised in the future.
