Occurrence: Hungary ( Novák 2012), Czech Republic ( Christophoryová et al. 2011b), Poland ( Rafalski 1948), Slovakia ( Christophoryová et al. 2011b), Ukraine ( Schawaller 1989).

New data: nil.

Habitat preference: Beier (1963a) recorded this species from the upper layer of forest soil. In Slovakia it has been reported from compost heaps ( Christophoryová et al. 2017a) and tree hollows ( Christophoryová et al. 2017c). In Hungary it has been found in moss ( Novák 2012), in the leaf litter of beech forest (Novák 2013) and alder forest (Novák 2018).

Remarks: Mundochthonius carpaticus is only known from the Eastern and Northeastern Carpathians ( Rafalski 1948; Schawaller 1989; Christophoryová et al. 2011b), and from the northeastern hilly and mountaineous regions of Hungary ( Novák 2012, 2013, 2018) which are biogeographically closely attached to the Carpathians.
