Type Locality: Mexico, Baja California, Sierra Laguna.
Vernacular Names: Western Yellow Bat.
Distribution: S California, Arizona, and New Mexico south to Baja California, W and C Mexico.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Dasypterus . Often considered a subspecies of ega , but see Baker et al. (1988 a) and Morales and Bickham (1995). For discussion of the ranges of ega and xanthinus see Baker and Patton (1967), Baker et al. (1971, 1988 a), and Bickham (1987).
