On Psalidognathus gloriosus Thomson, 1880 View in CoL

Psalidognathus gloriosus Thomson, 1880 View in CoL : lx.

According to Thomson (1880), this species is close to P. friendii View in CoL , P. sallei View in CoL , and P. boucardi View in CoL , and differs from P. sallei View in CoL by the appearance, the prothorax less excavated centrally, the elytra widened or foliaceous laterally in anterior third, longitudinal carina of the elytra well distinct, and elytral granulation distinctly less strong. Of these differences pointed out by him, only the pronotal excavation is not different from that in P. sallei View in CoL .

Except for the prothorax slightly smaller in the “ lectotype ” male, there is no reliable difference between this species and P. superbus sensu auctorum. The “ lectotype ” female does not differ from those of P. boucardi and P. incas .

The designation of lectotype by Quentin & Villiers (1983) has no nomenclatural value because two lectotypes were designated at the same time.
