Merodon View in CoL View at ENA sp. nova 2, sensu Ståhls et al. 2009
Material examined. 1 Ƥ, riverside vegetation near Neochori, 7.vi.2010, leg. G.E. Rotheray, det. A. Vujiċ 2011 [ NMS].
Notes. Authors of this paper noted the remarkable similarity of this large specimen with M. avidus . The avidus group of species seems to be very homogeneous morphologically but highly diverse genetically, and Merodon sp. nova 2, although very similar to M. avidus , is much larger, thus making it one of the most distinctive taxa in the group (Ante Vujiċ in lit.). Larva undescribed.
Merodon sp. nov. Vuji ć et al. (in prep.)
Material examined. 1 3, Agiasos, 1.vi.2010, sweet chestnut forest, leg. S.M. Hewitt, det. A. Ricarte 2011 (confirmed by A. Vujiċ) [ NMS].
