Type Locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Estação Ecolóogica do Taim, Fazenda Caçapava.

Vernacular Names: Flamarion's Tuco-tuco.

Distribution: Coastal sand dunes in Rio Grande do Sul, S Brazil.

Conservation: Endangered from urbanization ( Freitas, 1995).

Discussion: Karyotype has 2n=48 and FN=50-78 ( Freitas, 1994). Freitas (1994) suggested that this species might belong to the mendocinus group.
